Yesterday at approximate 5:17 p.m., the driver of a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 805 lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the highway and crash into a ravine. The incident happened south of H Street in Chula Vista.
Sadly, a young Hispanic female ~ approximately 17 to 20 years old, lost her life in the crash. She was one of several passengers in the vehicle.
The decedent was carried away from the vehicle which burst into flames. Someone called 9-1-1 and a passerby performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
CHP officers and paramedics arrived on the scene and took over the CPR efforts without success. Thereafter, officials pronounced that the young girl had died at the scene.
